What to Wear to Disneyland in April

What to Wear to Disneyland in April

Planning a trip to Disneyland this spring? Here are must-know tips for what to wear and how to dress for a fun and magical day from morning til night!

In this post, we’ll cover what type of weather to expect, what to wear, and also what not to wear while visiting the Magic Kingdom.

Let’s get started!

April is a wonderful month to visit Disneyland.

I’ve had three trips to Disney in April. The first was for my birthday and not long after we found out I was expecting. The second time was when our daughter was about three years old. And the third time was when she was her last year of middle school.

They were all very different times in my life, yet very enjoyable and exciting trips nonetheless.

For two of those trips, I lived on the East Coast, so a break from the rain and possibly even snow was a welcomed reprieve.

The third trip occurred when my daughter was old enough to remember the vacation. She was in middle school and we went over spring break. We lived in California at the time, so we were able to drive there and it was really enjoyable to escape reality and spend time in the Magic Kingdom.

What is April Weather Like in Disneyland?

Unlike most of the US, April weather in Anaheim is very predictable.

The rainy season has pretty much ended, and for the most part, you can predict warm weather and sunny skies.

On average, there are 2 rainy days in April. The temperatures range from a balmy 74 degrees during the day to a cool 54 degrees at night.

So the days will start off cool and crisp, but not cold.

You can expect most days to be sunny as well!

Then, they’ll warm up to near perfect weather for being outdoors.

Expect things to cool down again at night for the ideal sleeping weather.

Alternatively, if you are heading to Disney World in Orlando, Florida, expect warmer temperatures. The high for April is 83 degrees and the low 63 degrees. It rains only 3 days of the month on average.

How to Dress for Disneyland in April

What to Wear to Disneyland in April?

It doesn’t matter where you live, when you pack your bags, you’re probably wondering, “What to wear to Disneyland in April?”

When you are visiting from a different climate, it’s actually hard to remember what a different temperature feels like.

Most people keep their home temperatures in the mid-70s. That’s the same weather you can expect each day in Disneyland.

If you take a look at the parade photo (above) showing Goofy. You’ll notice that everyone in the crowd is dressed comfortably and casually.

T-shirts, jeans, shorts, and sweatshirts worn with sneakers are the go-to style for a magical day at Disneyland.

Since you may be arriving early and staying after the sun goes down to watch the fireworks, dressing in TWO layers is key.

Dress in Layers

  • Your foundation layer should be a t-shirt, tank top, button-down shirt, blouse, or even a casual dress.

  • The top layer should be long-sleeved and easy on/off. Items such as sweatshirts, zip-front hoodies, denim jackets, light down vests, cardigans, and pullover sweaters are good options.

Bottoms

  • For bottoms, opt for casual pants such as leggings, jeans, or khakis.

  • Shorts and skirts are also an option.

  • Be sure you are able to move comfortably in them since you will be doing a lot of sitting, standing, and walking.

Shoes

What you wear on your feet will be the most important accessory!

  • Wear shoes that are comfortable, good for walking, breathable, sturdy, and won’t cause blisters.

  • Good shoe options are sneakers, loafers, flats, and sandals with a sling back.

  • Socks add an extra layer of comfort and protection from blisters while wicking moisture away from your feet.

Many people wonder if they can wear flip-flops. However, the shoes can come flying off on a ride, so they are not recommended.

Accessories

There are a few important accessories you’ll want to consider bringing to Disney.

As I mentioned before, you can expect lots of sunny days in April. Be prepared with protection from the rays by bringing the following:

  • Hat

  • Sunglasses

  • Sunscreen

What Not to Wear to Disneyland

Since Disneyland is a family destination, there is a dress code.

Here is a synopsis of what you can’t wear to Disneyland.

  • Costumes may not be worn by guests 14 and older. They don’t want confusion between people in costume and real characters.

  • No masks, either unless they are for medical purposes.

  • No clothing with obscene graphics or language.

  • No overly loose clothing or clothes that drag on the ground that could become a tripping hazard.

  • Clothing with multiple layers may be subject to search upon entry.

  • Clothing which, by nature, exposes excessive portions of the skin that may be viewed as inappropriate for a family environment

  • Visible tattoos that could be considered inappropriate, such as those containing objectionable language or designs

  • Bare feet
