What to Wear in 60 Degree Weather

Spring and Fall are my favorite seasons of the year, however the unpredictable weather can often leave you wondering what to wear.

One day it’s 30 degrees, the next it’s 80, and the day after that its 60 degrees. 60 degrees falls right in the middle and seems to be a temperature that is often on the spring and fall weather forecast.

It’s not too cold and it’s not too hot - you don’t need to bundle up in a parka but you can’t strip down to tank tops and shorts either.

What to Wear in 60 Degree Weather

  • Wear light to medium weight fabrics such as cotton, rayon, silk, or merino wool.

  • Start with a foundation layer such as a tank or tee. Add a light weight sweater, denim jacket, blazer, sweatshirt, wind breaker, or trench coat.

  • For bottoms go with leggings, long pants, or capris. If you want to wear a short skirt, pair it with tights.

  • 60 degrees is still a bit too cold for flip flops and too warm for heavy boots such as Uggs. Opt for loafers, oxfords, mules, Chelsea boots, closed heels, ballet flats, or sneakers.

I bet you already have many of these pieces in your closet. If not, I’ve added links so you can pick them up on Amazon.

#1. Layer with Leather

Layers are your BFF during 60 temperatures. For example, a leopard print skirt looks great when worn with a plain white tee and topped with a biker-style leather jacket.

Stay on trend by adding a pair of comfortable Adidas Superstar Original Sneakers.

#2. In Case of Showers

Mild weather temperatures also tend to come with a chance of showers. Don’t get caught in the rain without a traditional trench coat. These jackets are very figure flattering for all body styles and add a chic polish over ankle length jeans and a clean white button-down shirt.

Add a skinny belt and a pair of white mules and you’ve got a pulled together look for wherever the day takes you.

#3. Errand Day

Let’s face it, some days you just want to be comfortable especially when you have a lot of errands to run. This outfit will take you from coffee with a friend, to grocery store, dry cleaning, and a stop at the bank.
Layered over a tee, this hooded denim jacket is part denim/part sweatshirt. It has a denim body, sweatshirt sleeves and hood. Top it over black leggings and Vans Classic Checkerboard Slip-Ons.

#4. Bring on the Color

Did you know the colors you wear can affect your mood? It’s true! Find out what mood you’re producing when you wear your favorite color.

Don’t go for just neutrals. When the weather hits 60 degrees, add some color to your outfit.

#5. Lasso in Some Style with Cowboy Boots

60 degrees is just a bit too warm for Ugg Boots, but Cowboy boots are just right for this temperature and add a chic modern look to almost every outfit.

The combination of cowboy boots paired with a ruffle dress and denim jacket is on trend for the season!

#6. Sailor Stripes

Wear a striped light weight sweater or tee over Free People cropped black jeans. Finish the look with a pair of Chelsea boots.

#7. Mock Me

Mock turtlenecks are having a moment and they are perfect to wear when the thermometer hits 60 degrees. Wear a fitted black mock turtleneck over a vividly patterned skirt and pair it with Fila chunky white sneakers - comfortable and stylish!

#8. It’s Jumpsuit Weather

Enjoy the movement of a pretty floral print jumpsuit. Add a cardigan or jean jacket and it’s ready for mild temperatures.

#9. Hit the Trail

Take a black tank top, add a zip-front hoodie, pair of skinny jeans, black baseball hat, and of course a belt bag for hands free walking for hiking on a trail near you or walking the Great Wall of China!

#10. Schoolgirl Chic

Take a layering lesson from school uniforms. Girls have to wear short plaid skirts no matter the weather, so they know how to wear them when the weather hits 60 degrees.

Paired here with a white button-down shirt, black sweatshirt, and black tights will keep you comfortable throughout the day.
